Alkaline-based paint strippers

Alkaline-based paint strippers contain, in addition to strong alkalis, also organic accelerators of the paint stripping effect and a paraffin cover phase (overcoat). The advantages of the cover phase are both lower evaporation at application temperatures (loss of bath volume, fumes) as well as increased bath life (the cover phase works also as a reservoir for the paint stripping accelerators).

Product line: Stripper
Applicable to materials: steel (stainless steel); copper (only amine-free paint strippres); plastics (after previous testing); wood
Applicable to paint types: PUR, polyester, 2K-polyester/epoxid, acrylate and KTL (cataphoresis)
Application temperature: depending on the type of the paint stripper and its use, approx. from 60 °C to 100 °C
Concentration at deployment: depending on the type of the paint stripper and its use, approx. from 20 % to 60 % vol.
Comments:
  • (phosphate) conversion layer on the surface of the material is removed after paint stripping
  • for spraying non-foaming paint strippers without the cover phase are available
